Our Services
At Sight To See, it is all about the service. We offer complete eye care from routine to complex. We see patients ages 5 and up and greatly appreciate referrals.
Our doctors provide comprehensive eye examinations that include evaluation for distance and near prescription, external and internal eye health, focusing, binocularity, color vision, depth perception, dry eye and allergy symptoms, and visual field testing. If you are interested in contact lenses, then corneal measurements and tear film evaluation, fitting, lens assessment and contact lens care is available. Dr. Raquel Strange and Dr. Scott Simon also provide diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and co-management with other specialists for a variety of ocular procedures.
Our staff has over 275 years of combined experience in optical and contact lenses. They stay on top of the latest style trends, newest materials, and advanced lens options through office educational opportunities. Our optical has a wonderful variety of frames with a range of styles and prices available. We are always getting new inventory -- stop by and try something on!
We fit many types and brands of contact lenses including daily, biweekly, and monthly disposables.
Facilities and Equipment
Optomap: Ultra-wide Digital Retinal Imaging
Optomap: Ultra-wide Digital Retinal Imaging
The Optomap is one of the most advanced pieces of technology that Sight to See has to offer. What the Optomap does is capture a panoramic view of your retina, which is the lining at the back of your eye. It receives light through the lens and produces a picture, which is sent to the brain, enabling you to see. An unhealthy retina can result in impaired vision or blindness. The retina is also the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to eye conditions such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, signs of other diseases like stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes can be seen in the retina.
Normally, an eye doctor would look through your pupil to examine your retina. Traditional viewing methods are difficult and may only reveal only 10-12% of your retina at a time. The Optomap captures more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image. It enhances our doctor's ability to detect even the earliest signs of disease. The large view also allows our doctors more time to review the images and provide essential information regarding your eye health. You can find more information and elect to have an Optomap in the Patient Portal. Taking the image is fast and painless, and does not typically require dilation.
TearLab
Sight to See also offers TearLab, which is the most accurate and objective test for diagnosing dry eye disease. What the TearLab provides is an Osmolarity number, which provides our doctors with significant information. The test is fast, easy, and accurate, requiring only 50-nanoliters of tears for analysis (a sample smaller than the period at the end of this sentence.)

Your Osmolarity number is a measurement of the salt content in your tears. Our doctors will test both eyes with the TearLab and use the results to determine your number. Our doctors can then determine if you have dry eye disease, as well as the category: mild, moderate, or severe. This number will aid our doctors in developing the appropriate treatment needed to bring your ocular surface and tear film back to good health.

Insurance Plans
We participate with VSP, Vision Care Direct, Medicare, Medicaid (Dr. Simon), Superior Vision, Humana Vision, Healthsmart, EyeMed (Dr. Simon), Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Vision Benefits of America.
About your insurance:
There are two types of health insurance available that will help pay for your eye care services and our products. You may have both and Sight to See accepts both. There are vision care plans such as VSP, Vision Care Direct, and EyeMed, and then there is medical insurance such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Medicare. As a patient, it is important to know the differences between the two: Vision care plans only cover routine vision exams along with eyeglasses and contact lenses. They will also cover a basic screening for eye disease, but they do not cover diagnosis, management, or treatment of eye diseases.
Medical insurance must be used if you have any eye health problem or a systemic health problem that has ocular complications. Our doctors can determine if these conditions apply to you, but some are determined by case history. If you have both types of health insurance (vision care plans and medical insurance) then it may be necessary for us to bill some services to one plan and other services to the other. We will use coordination of benefits to minimize your out-of-pocket expense as much as possible. We will bill your insurance plan for services if we are a participating provider for that plan. We will try to obtain advanced authorization of your insurance benefits so we can tell you what is covered. If some fees are not paid by your plan, we will bill you for any unpaid deductibles, co-pays or non-covered services as allowed by the insurance contract. Check with our staff if you have other types of coverage.

Medicare: What They Cover, and What They Don't
Medicare will cover the medical portion of the eye exam if there is a medical complaint (ie. cataracts). If there is no medical complaint or diagnosis, Medicare may not cover the exam. Per federal law, Medicare does not cover a refraction.
What is a refraction?
The refraction part of the exam is the actual glasses prescription checked by the doctor. Medicare does not consider this a medical service, and does not cover it. Our charge for a refraction is $45.
